I've been meaning to sit down and give some regular time to sorting out this blog. I think it is such a great idea, and great resource for local Mums but actually setting aside the time to get it up and running and then maintain it seems to be difficult to find.
You know how it is, you do have a little time to yourself every day but by the time you've made a cup of tea, a mental list of what you need to get done today/tomorrow/this week, hung out the washing, cooked something to eat and then there you are back in the business of being a Mum - your time is suddenly up!
But this is something I really believe in and want to get going, so I'm starting afresh. Time devoted to doing something, no matter how small, everyday so that slowly but surely this grows into the blog/website that I first had in mind.
But you'll have to excuse me now, time's up, there's a little tug on my sleeve and I'm back to being Mum again! :)

Summer Holiday Survival
First apologies, it's been far to long since I last blogged. Must do better, must do better! I'm suddenly all committed to the cause of Mummy's Little Helper and hoping that I can gain some momentum to be updating this blog every day. Well, that's the plan, and I'd love it to be reality, so be the change you want to see I say, let's go blogging mad!
In the meantime let's address what is important in your world and not mine - summer holidays!
It doesn't matter how old your child is you are affected by the summer holidays. Even if you child isn't of school age most groups will have a change of timetable over the summer so it's good to check before you go to regular groups and find out if they are still running.
You can check the timetables for your local children's centre online here. It's good to check your local one even if your kids are of school age now as some of them are putting on events for kids of all ages and ones specially for older kids.
Check your local area to see what's on. I've found a great little timetable for Wolverton and the surrounding areas where most providers of children's activities have got together to publish a week by week guide to what is going on locally.
Some classes run all summer, so if you are a regular at Musical Monkeys, Tatty Bumpkin, Crafty Cooks or Rag Dolly Annas then classes are running throughout the summer. Some also welcome older children along with the little ones, so check directly with them for more details.
Getting out and about can totally save your sanity, so why not spend some quality time in the park? The Parks Trust are running events for children throughout the summer from fun days and walks through to open air theatre and cinema. Lots of events are free, and lots of workshops are just a few pounds, but booking is essential so check their website for more details.
Continuing with the great outdoors why not visit some local forests? Salcey Forest is close by and boasts a range of walks and paths for cycles as well as a cafe, playground and treetop walkway. Parking in the main carpark is £3 for the whole day but other carparks around the forest are free.
Can't quite make it away this summer? Don't worry, there is no reason that you shouldn't still be able to go to the beach. Until 31st August in Middleton Hall, centre:MK you can visit the Summer Beach 2011 complete with deckchairs!
I hope these have given you some ideas. If you have any others or top tips of your own, please post them and I'll add them in!

Half Term - the final few days...
Hang in there people - half term is almost over!
I'm sure that everyone has very much enjoyed some family time this week but it can be hard to find groups to go to. My little one isn't even school age but a lot of the groups that we go to run term time only, so it is best to check before you head out to a regular group and find that there is no one in.
If you are getting to the end of the week and looking for something to end it in style then why not try The Park's Trust - Circus Time tomorrow from 10.30-1pm at Ouse Valley Park. Click here for more details.
Also running in half term is the regular group - NCT Milton Keynes' Bumps, Babes and Beyond at Foundation House in Wolverton. The group meets every Friday with a baby area, plenty of room and toys for the toddlers and tea and coffee for the Mums. There is a suggested £1 donation.
And finally if you are looking to get out of the house really early then why not have breakfast at the WI Country Market at the Old Bath House in Wolverton on Friday. They are open from 8am and serve teas and coffees, bacon sandwiches, toast and cereal. The market sells a range of homemade goods and crafts including cakes, savouries and eggs, so it's a great local place to shop too.
For the weekend there is so much going on!
Saturday sees the first monthly MK Handmade and Vintage Fair at Swifen Harris Hall (Greek Church Hall) in Stony Stratford. This looks like a great event with a great range of stalls, I'm on the look out for some gifts and I think this could be the place to go for something unique and beautiful.
This is just one of the events that makes up Stony Live! which kicks off tomorrow. There are events from June 4th - 12th from live music to the classic car festival as well as an open day at the allotments. Plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Half Term Fun in Wolverton
Get down to Wolverton's Victoria Park tomorrow from 2-4 for Woodland Play in the Park.
Activities for the little ones include: Clay modeling, Rope walking, Metal detecting, Digging and Planting.
Should be a great way to get out during half term, give the kids a run around and for everyone to get really really messy!

Hello and Welcome
Hi and welcome to my blog.
I'm a Mum in Milton Keynes and I want to build a resource that is useful to all Mums in the area.
I'm hoping to add more each day including events, business, groups, classes and places to go with your little ones - everything and anything that a family in MK might need to know.
Please feel free to get in touch with any suggestions/info that you have that you want to share.
I'll also be launching a newsletter very soon, so please join up! Email: Mummy's Little Helper to be added to our list and receive the latest copy.
Hope you'll be checking back soon.
Laura :)
